The Minnesota Historical Society is continuing our teacher cohort experiences in the 2015-2016 school year. The goal of this cohort is to gather together teachers from around the state and foster a community of learning and sharing.
The theme of one of the 2015-2016 cohorts is American Indian History. Participants teach U.S. history (among other subjects) in Minnesota schools from all corners of the state. The cohort will include four events throughout the year — two in-person and two virtual — and will discuss American Indian past and present, with a particular focus on the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples.
As part of their experience, cohort teachers are required to write one blog post focusing on an aspect of American Indian history and education. This blog will be a forum for discussion and ideas for the duration of the cohort.
For more information about the cohort, please contact Jessica Ellison, K-12 Programs and Services, Minnesota Historical Society.
